Noisy pipes also known as water hammer

An annoying issue which is caused when water in a pipe is stopped or changes direction suddenly such as shutting off a tap, flushing a toilet or when a dish washer or washing is in use.

It can be alleviated by turning down the water pressure as it comes into the property although this may not be ideal however, fixing the problem should be the way to go. You should ensure that pipes are securely fixed if they are next to a joist or other hard surface and you can have installed an equilibrium valve installed in your tank or cistern.
